It’s entirely possible that one of the clients contacts you to come and help out in an emergency. Since it is not possible to place a shift after it has initially ended, it’s very important that the client places the shift on the platform before you start your shift so that the two parties can confirm on the agreement beforehand. By doing this you protect yourself as a freelancer by agreeing on the hourly pay and to make sure the invoice gets sent to them. 

In the case where you want to work as a replacement, but you can’t apply for the shift it will not be possible for you to work this specific shift. 

What happens when I’ve already worked the shift but I wasn’t accepted through the platform?
That is the tricky situation we try to advise you to prevent. We’re only able to help you in the case where both of you made the agreement through the platform.
