From 1 February 2025, the hourly Temper fee and the minimum hourly rate for freelancers will increase. These changes ensure we continue to provide a reliable platform, fair pay for freelancers, and high-value support for your business.

Why the change?

Since our UK launch in 2022, we at Temper have been dedicated to delivering exceptional value to our clients. This includes continuous investment in our platform, our support team, and the growing community of skilled freelancers. To sustain and enhance this high level of service, we are adjusting our hourly Temper fee and the minimum rate for freelancers.

What’s changing?

Temper fee

The Temper fee covers essential services such as platform usage, support and insurance.

  • New rate (from 01 February 2025): £3.50/hour

  • Current rate (until 31 January 2025): £3.00/hour

Minimum hourly rate for freelancers

  • New rate (from 01 February 2025): £12.50/hour

  • Current rate (until 31 January 2025): £12.00/hour

This increase aligns with the rise in the National Minimum Wage to £12.21/hour and reflects our commitment to providing fair compensation and flexibility to freelancers.

Impact on minimum cost per hour

  • New minimum cost per hour (from 01 February 2025): £16.00/hour

  • Current minimum cost per hour (until 31 January 2025): £15.00/hour

How does it work?

  1. Shifts created before 01 February 2025
You’ll pay the current Temper fee (£3.00/hour) and the current minimum rate (£12.00/hour), even if the shift occurs in February or March.

  2. Shifts created on or after 01 February 2025
The new Temper fee (£3.50/hour) and minimum rate (£12.50/hour) will apply.

  3. Shifts taking place on or after 01 April 2025
Regardless of when the shift is created, all shifts must comply with the new National Minimum Wage and use the higher Temper fee and hourly rate.
