🇬🇧 Why is my Right to Work rejected?

Non-UK and non-Irish citizens need to present a valid Right to Work code (also known as RTW code or share code), next to their passport

When creating a profile on Temper, you need to upload your ID. When you do not have a passport from the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, you will also need to prove you have the right to work in the UK.

Once your passport has been approved, we’ll ask you to share the Right to Work code via the platform. This document will get checked within 24 hours.

Your Right to Work can be accepted on our platform if:

  • You can work any job in the UK

  • There’s no limit on how long you can stay in the UK

  • Your Right to Work code expires in more than a month

  • Your only job condition is not working as an entertainer, professional sportsperson or coach (there are no shifts in this field on Temper)

Your Right to Work can't be accepted on our platform if:

  • Your Right to Work expires in less than a month

  • The name on your Temper profile doesn’t match the name on the share code

  • It’s specifically stated that you cannot be self-employed

  • There’s a limit to the hours that can be worked on a weekly basis or per season (common type: you can work up to 20 hours a week during term time and full-time during the holidays)

  • Your job needs to be part of your studies

  • You must work for a specific (visa related) sponsor

  • Your Right to Work needs to be verified with the Home Office

  • There are limitations to the type of work or field they can be active in (exception: professional sportsperson or coach)

It may be the case that your share code states some additional requirements, like the ones listed above. As a platform for freelancers, Temper unfortunately cannot facilitate these specific conditions. If you’re unsure about the status of your document verification, please reach out to our Support team.
