In the financial overview you can find all your earnings on our platform and all your invoices. You can easily see how much money you have earned per quarter and how much VAT you have received over your earnings. You can also check all of your costs.

To look back at your turnover tax from previous months, 'click on the 'Year-Quarter' button on the right hand side to open the drop-down menu. Just select the quarter you'd like to view.

A - Total earnings

In the ‘Total earnings’ header section you will see the revenue you have received since you began using the platform. This summary also includes the VAT you have received. Below you will also find Invoice overview that doesn’t include VAT. The graph will show the revenue without VAT per each month. In that overview you can see how much exactly you received each month.

B - VAT that you have to pay to the Tax Authorities

The VAT metric in the Revenue section displays the amount you will need to declare for the current quarter. The number you see is the VAT you received for your revenue minus the VAT for your costs. This will be the amount you will have to pay to the Tax Authorities.

Keep in mind that this number only applies when you work via Temper platform, we don’t have insight into your situation outside the platform.

C - Total for turnover taxes

In the panel on the right hand side, you will be able to see your finances explained in more detail. There are few sections that you need to pay attention to:

  • Revenue
In this section you will see how much you earned in the selected quarter including VAT. You will see the full amount that is ‘charged with the 21% VAT’. In the VAT metric below, you will see how much that 21% VAT amounts to.

It is possible that no VAT has been invoiced for your worked hours. This is the case if you used the KOR scheme or if those earnings were part of your Temper trial. Read about those reasons here. This means you won’t see the invoices that don’t include VAT under ‘Revenue’. This, among other reasons, is why this overview cannot be used for your income tax declarations.

  • Costs

In the ‘Costs’ section, you will see the summary of the costs you carried out in the given quarter. This can include the factoring costs for direct payment, the VAT for those payments, and the substitution costs. You can declare these costs later on in the sales tax declaration as ‘preload’.

If you choose ‘direct payment’ for your shift, you will be charged with 2.9% of the shift payment. You will see those costs in the section titled ‘Direct Payments’. The ‘Subtotaal’ section below only refers to the ‘costs’. This is not the amount that will need to be paid to the Tax Authorities.

  • Substitution cost

When you find a substitute for your shift, this person technically works in your name and their payment is accounted for as your cost. This will not affect you though, and is purely displayed here for bookkeeping records. Your financial overview shows the substitution costs, but the total of these costs for you will always be € 0,-. For example:

John was hired to work for € 100,- including VAT at a client location. He found a substitute- Nancy. Nancy entered an agreement with John under the same circumstances as the initial shift. Nancy will then receive € 100 ,- from John.

John will receive an invoice, with which he will pay Nancy. This is why John will see the invoice for the substituted shift in the Financial Overview.

The platform will make sure that this payment goes straight to Nancy. The invoice will use the income and the costs to balance it out for it to become € 0,- for John in the end.

To learn more, you can take a look at this article about substitution costs.

D - The declaration of turnover tax (sales tax)

You must declare your sales turnover tax every quarter for the hours worked in the previous 3 months unless you have used KOR. We've made this easier for you.

Click on the green button ‘Declare turnover tax’. If you have only worked via Temper, you will be able to find a summary of the earnings from the platform.

You can learn more about the sales tax declaration in our FAQ article dedicated to this subject.

Please note: Declaring your turnover tax and making sure the declaration is correct is your own responsibility as a self-employed person. We can’t give advice on that matter. If you need further help or advice regarding your taxes, it’s best to hire an accountant outside of the platform or get in touch with TaxAdvisors.

Sales tax overview

If you worked exclusively via Temper, then you will be able to see the overview of the VAT you received with your invoices. In point 1a you will see a summary of how much you earned, and the VAT for those earnings.

Column 5 titled is an overview of your VAT (5a) and the costs (5b) explained earlier. The ‘Subtotal’ (5c) is the amount you will have to pay to the Tax Authorities. This amount is calculated by subtracting the amount in point 5b from the amount in 5a. You will also see this number in the financial overview as ‘VAT that you have to pay to the Tax Authorities’.

Invoices

In the invoices overview, you will see a complete list of all invoices you have received through the platform. To learn more about the invoices, you can go to this article available in our Help Center.
